This policy explains what information The Binge Wire ("we", "us") collects when you visit thebingewire.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. The short version

You can read The Binge Wire without creating an account. We don't run comments, newsletters or reader sign-ups, and we don't sell personal data.

2. Information we collect

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, automatically records standard technical information when you load a page — such as your IP address, browser type, device, the page requested and the time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure, prevent abuse and fix errors.
  • Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages are popular. It does not use cookies and reports aggregated statistics; it does not identify individual visitors.
  • Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include, and use it only to reply and to handle your request.

3. Cookies

The Binge Wire does not set its own tracking cookies. Embedded content and advertising, described below, may set their own cookies.

4. Embedded content and media

Some articles include embedded posts or videos from Instagram, X (Twitter) and YouTube. When these load, those services may collect data about you, set cookies and track your interaction with the embedded content, under their own privacy policies — just as if you had visited their sites directly.

Images are delivered by Cloudinary, our media provider, which processes standard request information (such as your IP address) to serve them.

5. Advertising

We may show advertising from Google (Google AdSense) to support the site. When ads are shown:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Where the law requires it — for example, for visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland — we will ask for your consent before personalised ads are shown.

6. How we use information

We use the information above to run, secure and improve the site, to understand what readers find useful, to respond to you, and to comply with the law. We do not sell personal data.

7. Sharing

We share information only with service providers that help us run the site (hosting, media delivery, analytics and, when ads are live, advertising), or where we are required to by law.

8. How long we keep it

Server logs and analytics are kept only for as long as our providers retain them for these purposes. Emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your request.

9. Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable laws, you may ask to access, correct or erase personal data we hold about you, and you may raise a grievance with us. Email admin@thebingewire.com with the subject "Privacy" and we will respond within the time required by law.

10. Children

The Binge Wire is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
